Welcome to HalalBite. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the HalalBite website, mobile applications, and services (collectively, the "Service") operated by HalalBite ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, browsing, or otherwise using HalalBite, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. User Accounts and Responsibilities

To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account. When you do, you agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information during registration.
• Keep your login credentials secure and confidential.
• Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
• Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By creating an account, you represent that you meet this requirement.

3. User-Generated Content

HalalBite allows you to submit content including but not limited to restaurant reviews, ratings, photos, restaurant submissions, and halal verification votes (collectively, "User Content"). You are solely responsible for the User Content you submit. By posting User Content, you represent and warrant that:

• You own the content or have the necessary rights and permissions to post it.
• Your content is accurate and reflects your genuine experience or knowledge.
• Your content does not violate the rights of any third party, including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
• Your content does not contain unlawful, defamatory, or harmful material.

We reserve the right to remove or modify any User Content that violates these Terms or that we deem inappropriate, at our sole discretion and without prior notice.

4. Content License

By submitting User Content to HalalBite, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, display, distribute, and modify your User Content in connection with operating and improving the Service. This license continues even if you stop using the Service, but only for content already shared. You retain all ownership rights to your original content.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to use the Service to:

• Post fake, misleading, or fraudulent reviews or ratings.
• Spam, solicit, or send unsolicited commercial messages.
• Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate other users.
• Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
• Manipulate halal verification votes or game the community verification system.
• Post content that promotes discrimination, hatred, or violence.
• Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Service without our written permission.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or our systems.
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, servers, or networks connected to the Service.
• Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law.

6. Halal Information Disclaimer

HalalBite is a community-driven platform that aggregates user-submitted information about the halal status of restaurants. We are not a halal certification authority. The halal status information displayed on HalalBite, including self-reported, community-verified, and certified labels, is provided for informational purposes only. We do not independently verify or guarantee the halal compliance of any restaurant. Users should exercise their own judgment and verify halal status independently, especially if strict adherence is important to them. HalalBite shall not be held liable for any inaccuracies in halal status information provided on the platform.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, logos, text, graphics, software, and all other content (excluding User Content), is the property of HalalBite or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the Service or its content without our prior written consent. The HalalBite name and logo are our trademarks and may not be used without our express written permission.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HalalBite and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

• Your access to or use of (or inability to access or use) the Service.
• Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service, including other users' reviews, photos, or halal verification votes.
• Any content obtained from the Service, including reliance on halal status information.
• Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your content or data.

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

9. Termination of Accounts

We may suspend or terminate your account and access to the Service at any time, with or without cause or notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or engaged in conduct that is harmful to other users, the Service, or third parties. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, though provisions that by their nature should survive (such as content licenses, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will continue to apply.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we may notify you through the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
